Byron Scott Dorris, better known by his stage name Scotty Music, is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. He was born and raised in Joliet IL, a town located near Chicago.

His mother Lisa McFarland is a singer-songwriter and his father Timothy Dorris Sr. is a multi-talented musician, his older brother Brandon Dorris is a vocalist and his uncle Timothy Johnson who gave him the nickname Scotty is a vocalist and vocal coach. As you can see Scotty comes from a very rich musical background.

Scotty Music had a love for music at a very young age. He began playing the drums at age 2, and started playing for the church at age 5. At age 14 he met Chris & Curtis Greenwood, brothers who had their own studio. At this studio Scotty learned the basic formula to creating and mixing tracks. Curtis showed Scotty a few chords and he picked it up fast, so fast in fact in a matter of months Scotty was playing piano for the youth choir at Shiloh M B Church. There he also received training from the late and great Tony Ray, Lazar Grey, Dion Wolfard, and Sylvester Harper.

Scotty let Mr. Harper hear some of the tracks he had been crafting in the studio. After hearing these phenomenal songs Mr. Harper introduced Scotty to his long time and friend producer Earl Powell.

Earl immediately saw the potential in Scotty and signed him to his production company Eptone. For the next two years Scotty worked on perfecting his gifts as a singer, rapper and producer.

Scotty has worked with likes of Rick Ross, Twista, Black Youngsta, Do or Die, Syleena Johnson, Tweet, as a producer and artist.

In December 2011, Scotty signed a co-publishing deal with Warner/Chappell with Mike Lynn and Cameron Strang (CEO). In 2017 Scotty signed a JV partnership with G7 Records through his company Scotty Music Group.
