Persian-Swedish recording artist Snoh Aalegra’s favorite sound is rain. “I love melancholy,” says the 29-year old artist. “I got that from being in Sweden a lot and being in London where it rains a lot. I love that vibe.”
Aalegra’s voice reflects so much more than just the Swedish gloom, however. It embodies a soulful sound reminiscent of Michael Jackson, Nina Simone, and Lauryn Hill yet finds its own power, and connectivity, through Aalegra’s signature croon. So it’s no wonder she’s the protégé of luminary hip hop producer No I.D., who’s produced hit singles for the likes of Kanye, Common and Jay Z.
Her undeniable talent has allowed her to collaborate with music’s most influential voices and producers such as Common,
John Mayer, James Fauntleroy and Boi-1da, DJ Dahi and RZA. She captured the imagination of icon and legend Prince who mentored her for 2 years before his untimely passing in 2016.
Snoh premiered her second single off her upcoming project, FEELS, featuring label mate (ARTium) and “Norf Norf” rapper,
Vince Staples. Ebro Darden (Hot 97, Beats1) premiered the track exclusively on Apple Music’s Beats1 radio yesterday evening. Produced by Christian Rich (Drake, Childish Gambino, Chris Brown), “Nothing Burns Like the Cold” showcases Snoh’s signature “cinematic soul” sound (oh hey, James Bond!) with her powerful, smoky voice wrapped around sumptuous production. Snoh’s Sade-like mystique and vocally rich tone make her one of R&B’s most captivating voices.
